Java SE 12 Downloads - Oracle Technology Network License Agreement

The new Oracle Technology Network License Agreement for Oracle Java SE is substantially different from prior Oracle JDK licenses. The new license permits certain uses, such as personal use and development use, at no cost -- but other uses authorized under prior Oracle JDK licenses may no longer be available. Please review the terms carefully before downloading and using this product. An FAQ is available here.

For Windows users, after the Eclipse Installer executable has finished downloading it should beavailable in your download directory. Start the Eclipse Installer executable. You may get a security warning to run this file. If the Eclipse Foundation isthe Publisher, you are good to select Run.

1. The official Oracle JDK is not available for download from the local repository. You have to download the .rpm package from the Java SE Downloads page.

Officially, it is important that you verify the integrityof the downloaded files using the PGP signatures (.asc file) or a hash (.sha512 files). The PGP signatures should be matched against the KEYS file which contains the PGP keys used to sign this release.

I haven't used Java for quite some time, and today I wanted to re-start using it. So I updated my IDE (IntellijIDEA) to 2019.1.3 version1, and I downloaded Java 12. Then I proceeded to uninstall my old Java 8 (and I deleted the folder with the SDK of Java 8 from my PC with Windows 10).

There are several package choices. Note that you can install the features from any package into any other package. If you are, for example, planning to do mostly Java development and some C/C++ development, you should download the Eclipse IDE for Java Developers and then add the C/C++ development tools via the "Help > Install New Software..." menu option.

The download will be delivered as a compressed (i.e. a ".zip", or ".tar.gz") file. Decompress this file into the directory of your choice (e.g. "c:\eclipse" on Windows) and ensure you have full Read and Execute permissions. You can optionally create a shortcut of the executable file ("eclipse.exe" on Windows, or "eclipse" on Linux).

Note that there is a known problem with the built-in decompression utility on all current versions of Windows. We recommend that you use a more robust decompression utility such as the open source 7zip when decompressing an Eclipse download. Some people report success when initially decompressing Eclipse into a root directory (e.g. c:\) and then moving it to a more appropriate home (e.g. c:\Program Files\Eclipse)

As a simple test, open a Command Prompt window, move to the directory that is pointed to by the -vm argument in your eclipse.ini, and run the intended java.exe with the -d32 switch to test if it supports 32-bit, or -d64 to test for 64-bit support. It's often simplest to download a version of Eclipse that will work with whatever Java you already have installed.

Eclipse downloads are not password protected. This is a known problem with the built-in decompression utility on all current versions of Windows. We recommend that you either download the installer or use a more robust decompression utility such as the open source 7zip when decompressing an Eclipse download. Java 8 is not supported on Windows XP[167] but as of JDK 8 update 25, it can still be installed and run under Windows XP.[168] Previous updates of JDK 8 could be run under XP by downloading archived zip format file and unzipping it for the executable. The last version of Java 8 could run on XP is update 251.But its components compatibility starts to break on unsupported OS in early build during Java 8 updates development.[citation needed]

From October 2014, Java 8 was the default version to download (and then again the download replacing Java 9) from the official website.[169] "Oracle will continue to provide Public Updates and auto updates of Java SE 8, Indefinitely for Personal Users".[4]

If you are an organization using Chocolatey, we want your experience to be fully reliable. Due to the nature of this publicly offered repository, reliability cannot be guaranteed. Packages offered here are subject to distribution rights, which means they may need to reach out further to the internet to the official locations to download files at runtime.

Applications that run on Tomcat 9 and earlier will not run on Tomcat 10without changes. Java EE based applications designed for Tomcat 9 and earliermay be placed in the $CATALINA_BASE/webapps-javaee directory andTomcat will automatically convert them to Jakarta EE and copy them to thewebapps directory. This conversion is performed using theApache Tomcatmigration tool for Jakarta EE tool which is also available as a separatedownload for off-line use.

Users of Tomcat 10 onwards should be aware that, as a result of the move fromJava EE to Jakarta EE as part of the transfer of Java EE to the EclipseFoundation, the primary package for all implemented APIs has changed fromjavax.* to jakarta.*. This will almost certainlyrequire code changes to enable applications to migrate from Tomcat 9 and earlierto Tomcat 10 and later. Amigrationtool is available to aid this process.

This software is no longer available for the download. This could be due to the program being discontinued, having a security issue or for other reasons.

  • The API of IvyDE has been stabilized so that third party plugins can rely on it,

  • while still not complete, and still not advertised as stable in Ivy, support of OSGi has been added,

  • javadoc and source attachement can be edited now one by one,

  • improved stability of the resolve process,

  • improved logging for easier debugging.

Binary JAR file downloads of the JDBC driver are available here and the current version with Maven Repository. Because Java is platform neutral, it is a simple process of just downloading the appropriate JAR file and dropping it into your classpath. Source versions are also available here for recent driver versions. Latest SNAPSHOT versions.

This is the current version of the driver. Unless you have unusual requirements (running old applications or JVMs), this is the driver you should be using. It supports PostgreSQL 8.2 or newer and requires Java 6 or newer. It contains support for SSL and the javax.sql package.

If you need to run Java applications, downloading and installing the JRE (Java Runtime Environment) is enough. If you're developing Java applications, you'll want to download the JDK, which also includes the JRE.

The latest version of Java is Java 20 or JDK 20 released on March, 2023. However, many versions of Java are actively maintained for compatibility purposes. Java 8, Java 11 and Java 17 are the three long-term support versions recommended by Oracle. You can download the version you need below:

The Java Development Kit (JDK) is the full-featured software development kit for Java developers. It has everything the JRE has, but adds the compiler (javac) and tools (like javadoc and jdb). The JDK allows you to create and compile Java programs.

On oracle.com and java.com, certain JDK bundle extensions are getting truncated on download when using Firefox version 102. The downloaded bundles have no file extension like ".exe", ".rpm", ".deb". If you are not able to upgrade to Firefox ESR 102.0.1 or Firefox 103 when it is released, then as a workaround you can:

The Windows implementation of java.io.File has been changed so that strict validity checks are not performed by default on file paths. This includes allowing colons (':') in the path other than only immediately after a single drive letter. It also allows paths that represent NTFS Alternate Data Streams (ADS), such as "filename:streamname". This restores the default behavior of java.io.File to what it was prior to the April 2022 CPU in which strict validity checks were not performed by default on file paths on Windows. To re-enable strict path checking in java.io.File, the system property jdk.io.File.enableADS should be set to false (case ignored). This might be preferable, for example, if Windows special device paths such as NUL: are not used.

New system and security properties have been added to enable users to customize the generation of PKCS #12 keystores. This includes algorithms and parameters for key protection, certificate protection, and MacData. The detailed explanation and possible values for these properties can be found in the "PKCS12 KeyStore properties" section of the java.security file.
